Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes! In order for a child to qualify for early intervention or school-based services, certain criteria must be met including a particular severity of delay/disorder or evidence that the child’s communication interferes with their access to academics. If your child did not qualify in either of these settings, private speech-language services may be a good solution for you.

  • No, a doctor’s referral or diagnosis is not required to receive services. It is important to note, however, a referral or diagnosis may be required by your insurance company for reimbursement.

  • At this time, Liberty Speech Therapy is a private pay practice and is considered ‘out of network’ for insurance companies. By remaining private pay, we are able to keep session costs down and provide more availability to our clients. We accept most major credit cards as well as Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flex Spending Accounts (FSA). If requested, your clinician can provide you with a super bill to submit to your insurance company. It is possible insurance companies may reimburse for some or all therapy costs.

  • A super bill is a detailed invoice outlining services provided. A super bill will include diagnosis, treatment codes, session length, fees paid, and a description of services. Before beginning services, please be sure to contact your insurance provider to inquire about the following:

    • Does my plan cover speech-language services?

    • What are the limitations and exclusions, if any?

    • What information do you require on the super bill?

    • What percent of the allowed amount will you cover?

    • What is my out-of-network deductible and co-payment?

    • Does my policy cover charges for missed or canceled sessions?

  • Sessions are currently 30 minutes long at a rate of $90 per session. Clients are seen at a minimum of one session per week with additional weekly sessions added as needed. If a client requires multiple sessions a week, a reduced rate may apply.

  • Services are currently provided in our South Reno clinic. For certain clients, teletherapy may be an option.

  • Teletherapy is a great option for families that live in outlying areas of Nevada where driving to the clinic is not a possibility. It is also a good solution for families with siblings that may need to be at home. We currently offer teletherapy for older students working on articulation, language, and literacy goals. A reliable internet connection, computer or tablet, microphone, and speaker would be required to provide the best services.

  • Therapy sessions are scheduled at a minimum of once a week for 30 minutes. Sessions are often structured around your child’s interests, building the best rapport and positive environment to encourage learning. Please see ‘Our Philosophy’ to learn more about how we approach learning.
